SUNGBUM PATRON – 102ND GADEN TRIPA:
The successor of Je Tsongkhapa, the head of the Geluk school of Tibetan Buddhism is titled Gaden Tripa (Gaden Throne Holder). The current Gaden Tripa is Rizong Sras Rinpoche (Thupten Nyima Lungtok Tenzin Norbu), a Ladakhi incarnate. Gaden Tripas are selected to serve terms of office based upon their personal, outstanding accomplishments, and H.E. Rizong Sras Rinpoche is an eminent scholar-practitioner of the tradition. An effective administrator, the Gaden Tripa has served as abbot of Drepung Loseling (instituting important reforms later adopted by other monastic educational institutions in India) and Gyumed Tantric College monasteries in Karnataka, India. Additionally, the Gaden Tripa has taught around the world.
SUNGBUM PROJECT CONSULTANT: Geshe Thupten Jinpa (b. 1958, Tibet)
Geshe Thupten Jinpa is a Tibetan scholar, holding Ph.D. (Religious Studies) and B.A. Honors (Western Philosophy) degrees from Cambridge University. Geshe Jinpa has served for decades as the principal English interpreter, and translator of numerous books, for the 14th Dalai Lama. His professional positions include: 1996-99, Margaret Smith Research Fellow in Eastern Religion at Girton College, U.K.; Visiting Research Scholar, Stanford Institute of Neuro-Innovation & Translational Neurosciences at Stanford University; Advisory board member of Mind and Life Institute (promotes dialogue between Buddhism and Western science academy).
Geshe Thupten Jinpa established the INSTITUTE OF TIBETAN CLASSICS to preserve and publish vital Tibetan Buddhist texts. He is the President and Editor-in-Chief of the INSTITUTE’s English translation series: Classics in Tibet. He received his Geshe degree from Gaden Shartse monastic university in south India, and he resides with his family in Canada.
SUNGBUM PROJECT ADVISOR: Geshe Thupten Rabgais
Geshe Thupten Rabgais is a renown Buddhist scholar who is presently the Tutor of H.E. Ling Rinpoche and H.E. 20th Bakula Rinpoche. He is also a Dharma teacher at Drepung Loseling Monastery with numerous monk students attending his classes.
SUNGBUM PROJECT DIRECTOR: Geshe Konchok Wangdu
Geshe Konchok Wangdu is a Professor of Buddhist philosophy at the CENTRAL INSTITUTE OF BUDDHIST STUDIES – Leh and the President/Director of the Himalayan Cultural Heritage Foundation.
PROOF-READING SUPERVISOR: Ven. Ngawang Chophel
Ven. Ngawang Chophel finished all of his monastic education at Drepung Loseling Monastery and was the Director of Drepung Loseling Library Society since 1999 for twelve years. During this time, he undertook the task of proof- reading the collected works of Panchen Sonam Dakpa.
PROOF-READING SUPERVISOR: Geshe Nawang Sangey
Geshe Nawang Sangey received his Lharampa geshe degree from Drepung Loseling Monastery in 2002. He used to work at Drepung Loseling Library Society where he was involved with the proof-reading of the collected works of Panchen Sonam Dakpa and was one of the main proof-readers of the five-volume textbooks used in the Jangchup Lamrim Teachings given by His Holiness the Dalai Lama from 2012 to 2014. He is presently a Dharma teacher at Drepung Loseling Monastery.
PROOF-READER: Ven. Ngawang Tashi
Ven. Ngawang Tashi finished his monastic education at Drepung Loseling Monastery. He used to work as a proof-reader at Drepung Loseling Library Society. He proof read Jamyang Kalob and had it published.
PROOF- READER : Geshe Konchok Namdak
Geshe Konchok Namdak received his Lharampa Geshe degree from Drepung Loseling Monastery in 2012. He used to work at Drepung Loseling Library Society and has experience of proof reading and dharma teachings.
PROOF- READER : Geshe Urgyen
Geshe Urgyen received his Geshe degree from Drepung Loseling Monastery in 2014. He used to work at Drepung Loseling Library Society for five years and has experience of proof reading.
SECRETARY: Dr. Sonam Wangchok
Dr. Sonam Wangchok received a Ph.D. in Buddhist Studies from Delhi University and is a founder and Secretary of the Himalayan Cultural Heritage Foundation and Secretary of International Association for Ladakh Studies.
CASHIER/TREASURER: Ven. Tsewang Phuntsok
Ven. Tsewang Phuntsok is a monk from Drepung Loseling Monastery and is serving in similar positions of trust at Drepung Loseling Monastery and DLPKES.
